What Is the Best Shopify Shipping App for Norwegian Stores? (2026 Comparison)

What Is the Best Shopify Shipping App for Norwegian Stores? (2026 Comparison)

Short answer: the best Shopify shipping app for a Norwegian store covers Bring, PostNord and Helthjem, shows their pickup points at checkout, prints labels in bulk and creates customs documents for parcels leaving Norway. Packrooster and Shipmondo cover all three carriers on your own agreements. Posten Bring Checkout is free but ships with Bring only.

TL;DR

  • Most Norwegian stores need three carriers: Bring for national coverage and mailbox parcels, PostNord for its pickup points and some routes where it prices better, and Helthjem for home delivery built on the newspaper distribution network.
  • Norway is outside the EU. Every parcel you send to Sweden, Finland, Denmark or anywhere else in Europe needs customs documents, so customs support matters more for a Norwegian store than for one in Sweden or Finland.
  • Shopify's own label buying doesn't cover Bring, PostNord or Helthjem. A Norwegian store needs an app for labels as well as for checkout.
  • Checkout features such as live rates and pickup-point pickers depend on your Shopify plan. Check that before you compare apps.

What a Shopify shipping app does for a Norwegian store

A Shopify shipping app connects your store to carriers so customers can choose a delivery option at checkout and you can print the label when the order comes in. For a Norwegian store that usually means Bring first, then PostNord and Helthjem, and DHL Express or UPS for parcels going further afield.

Without an app, you're copying addresses into Mybring or the PostNord portal by hand. That works for a handful of orders a week and falls apart quickly after that. Posten Bring's parcel volumes rose 16.6% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same period a year earlier, driven by Black Friday and Christmas shopping, and the company expects e-commerce to keep growing in 2026 (Posten Bring, February 2026).

Norwegian delivery habits are also different from Finland's. Only 16% of Norwegian online orders went to a parcel locker in 2024, against 50% in Finland (PostNord / Ipsos). Lockers are growing fast in Norway (Posten Bring alone had more than 2,100 parcel locker locations by February 2026), but mailbox parcels, staffed pickup points and home delivery still carry a large share. An app that only does lockers well isn't enough here.

What to compare before you choose

These five things decide whether an app fits a Norwegian store:

  1. Bring, PostNord and Helthjem. Many customers have a clear favourite. Bring has the widest coverage, Helthjem has loyal fans for home delivery, and PostNord's pickup points sit in a lot of grocery stores. Offering only one costs you orders.
  2. Live pickup points at checkout. The customer should be able to pick an actual pickup point or locker near their address before paying, with the list coming live from the carrier. A fixed list you type in yourself goes out of date.
  3. How you pay for shipping. Do you use your own agreements with Bring, PostNord and Helthjem, or buy shipping on the app's rates? That decides most of your cost, not the app's monthly fee.
  4. Labels in bulk. Look for batch printing, printing by location and automatic printing when an order is paid.
  5. Customs documents. A parcel from Oslo to Stockholm is an export. You need a customs declaration and usually a commercial invoice or CN22/CN23 on every shipment, so the app should generate them from your product data.

Nordic Shipping Options Bring, PostNord, GLS, dao Yes Not listed $18.95/month
Bring Shipping (by Sportyer) Bring only Not listed Commercial invoice $10/month. Per-order shipping rates need the Advanced plan
Shopify (no app) None No Basic customs fields only Included in your Shopify plan

A couple of notes on the table. "Pickup points at checkout" means the customer picks a specific point or locker before paying, not that you choose one afterwards in the admin. Helthjem only delivers inside Norway, so customs support only matters for the carriers you use to ship abroad.

What it costs at 300 labels a month

List prices are hard to compare because every app charges for different things. Here's one realistic case: a Norwegian store with its own Bring, PostNord and Helthjem agreements, sending 300 labels a month from one warehouse, with pickup points at checkout. Freight charges from the carriers are left out, because you pay them whichever app you use.

Three of the apps in the table cover all three carriers and publish their prices, so those are the ones worked through here. The figures use each provider's public list prices on 12 October 2026, excluding VAT, converted to euros at the European Central Bank rates of 9 October 2026 (EUR 1 = USD 1.1206 = NOK 10.7155).

App How the monthly cost adds up Estimated monthly cost One-off fees First 12 months
Shipmondo (Pro) €29 plan + 300 labels × €0.08 €53.00 €180 carrier setup (3 × €60), plus an optional €100 startup package €816.00 (€916.00 with the startup package)
Packrooster Shipping (Standard) $29 plan + 200 labels × $0.20 + 100 labels × $0.10 = $79 €70.50 None €846.00
Logistra Cargonizer (Extended) + CargonizE2 (Standard) NOK 680 Cargonizer subscription + $45 app plan + 300 shipments × $0.05 €117.00 None €1,404.00

Shipmondo has the lowest monthly cost here, and it stays slightly ahead over the first year even after its setup fees. Packrooster costs a little more per month but has no setup fees, so the two end up about €30 apart after twelve months. Each extra carrier customer number adds another €60 on Shipmondo and nothing on Packrooster, so the gap closes as you add carriers. Cargonizer is the most expensive in this case because you pay for both the Cargonizer subscription and the Shopify connector. It also isn't clear from the listings whether the connector shows pickup points at checkout, so check that before you compare like for like.

Posten Bring Checkout and Bring Shipping only cover Bring, Nordic Shipping Options doesn't include Helthjem, and nShift quotes its platform price per customer, so none of them fit this example.

The pricing models, explained

Monthly app fees get compared most and matter least. What you pay the carrier per parcel is where the real money is, and that's set by the pricing model.

Your own carrier agreements

You sign an agreement with Bring, PostNord or Helthjem. The carrier invoices you directly at your agreed prices. The app connects to the carrier, puts its services and pickup points in your checkout and prints the labels, and you pay the app a monthly fee and sometimes a small per-label fee.

Packrooster, nShift and Cargonizer work this way, and it's what Shipmondo's paid plans add. It suits stores that ship enough to negotiate, or that already have agreements and want to keep them. If you've never negotiated with a carrier, our guide to negotiating carrier rates covers how to start.

The app's rates, paid per parcel

The app company has its own agreements with carriers and sells shipping to you at its price list. No contract, no monthly fee, and the app's margin sits in the parcel price. In this table, Shipmondo's Free plan works this way. It's a reasonable way for a new store to start. As volume grows, compare the per-parcel price with what Bring or PostNord would offer you directly, and watch the invoice for surcharges and extra fees.

A carrier's own app

Posten Bring Checkout is made by Posten Bring and only ships with Bring. It's free, well built and a good fit if Bring is all you need. The day you want Helthjem or PostNord in your checkout as well, you'll need a second app, and running two shipping apps side by side gets messy.

Check your Shopify plan first

Apps that add their own rates or pickup-point pickers to checkout usually rely on Shopify's third-party carrier-calculated shipping. According to Shopify, it's included on Advanced and Plus. Grow stores can add it for a monthly fee or get it by switching to annual billing. Basic stores don't get it.

Posten Bring Checkout says the same on its listing: live rates at checkout need Advanced, Plus, or Grow with carrier-calculated shipping turned on. Bring's newest checkout features (the pickup-point selector, map and delivery-date choice for Pakke Hjem Pluss) went further in August 2026 and require Shopify Plus. If you're on Basic, the cheapest fix is often Grow on annual billing.

Which app fits which store

A small store that only uses Bring. Posten Bring Checkout is free and comes from the carrier itself. Start there, and switch to a multi-carrier app when you add a second carrier.

A store that wants Bring, PostNord and Helthjem in one checkout. Packrooster and Shipmondo both cover all three on your own agreements. Packrooster has no setup fees and is built in the Nordics with Norwegian-language support. Shipmondo has a lower monthly fee and a free plan if you'd rather ship on its rates for now. Work out both at your own label volume and number of carriers before you decide.

A store already running on Logistra Cargonizer. Keep Cargonizer and connect it to Shopify with CargonizE2 or CargonizerConnect. Check the checkout and customs features with the app developer before you commit, as the listings don't spell them out.

A store that sells to Sweden, Finland or Denmark. You need customs documents on every parcel and carriers on the other side of the border. Packrooster covers Swedish and Finnish carriers such as PostNord Sweden, Instabox, Posti and Matkahuolto. Shipmondo is strongest in Denmark. nShift covers almost everything at a quoted price.

A larger business with an ERP, WMS or several sales channels. nShift is built for that. Packrooster connects to WMS and ERP systems on its Premium plan and to nShift as well, which helps if part of your operation already runs on it.

How to do this in Shopify with Packrooster

Packrooster Shipping is made by Approosters in Finland, and it's what we know best, so here is how setup works with it. Packrooster doesn't sell shipping or show carrier prices. You connect your own carrier agreements, and the carriers bill you directly.

  1. Install Packrooster from the Shopify App Store and pick a plan. The app is available in Norwegian. Pickup points at checkout are included from the Standard plan, and like the other checkout apps here, they need carrier-calculated shipping on your Shopify plan.
  2. Connect your carriers. Add your Bring (Mybring) API details and customer number, your PostNord customer number with Norway as the account issuer, and your Helthjem credentials.
  3. Set your checkout rates. Choose which services customers see, for example Bring PickUp Parcel, Bring mailbox parcels, Helthjem Hentepakke and Helthjem home delivery, and what you charge for each: flat rates, free shipping over a basket value, or rules based on weight, product, zone or customer. Pickup points and service lists come live from the carriers.
  4. Print labels. Create labels one at a time, in bulk or automatically when an order is paid, sorted by Shopify location if you ship from several.
  5. Ship outside Norway. For parcels to Sweden, Finland, the rest of the EU or the UK, Packrooster generates the customs documents from the product data in your store when the label is created.

The Bring, PostNord and Helthjem pages list the services supported for each carrier. The shipping from Norway guide covers carriers, transit times and customs in more depth. If you're selling into Norway from abroad rather than from Norway, read about the VOEC number and shipping to Norway instead. More about the app on the Packrooster Shipping page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best shipping app for Shopify in Norway?

It depends on which carriers you need and how you buy shipping. If you want Bring, PostNord and Helthjem in one checkout on your own agreements, Packrooster and Shipmondo are the main options. If Bring is enough, Posten Bring's own Posten Bring Checkout app is free. Larger businesses with ERP or WMS systems often use nShift.

Does Shopify support Bring?

Not on its own. Shopify's built-in label buying doesn't include Bring, PostNord or Helthjem. You need an app such as Packrooster, Posten Bring Checkout or Shipmondo to show Bring delivery options at checkout and print Bring labels.

How do I add Bring pickup points to Shopify checkout?

Install a shipping app that supports Bring pickup points, connect your Mybring account and turn on PickUp Parcel as a shipping method. Check that your Shopify plan includes carrier-calculated shipping (Advanced, Plus, or Grow with the add-on or annual billing), because most pickup-point pickers depend on it.

Can I use Helthjem with Shopify?

Yes, through a multi-carrier app. Packrooster, Shipmondo and Logistra Cargonizer all support Helthjem, including pickup-point delivery (Hentepakke) and home delivery. We couldn't find a Shopify app from Helthjem itself, so a multi-carrier app is the way in. Keep in mind that Helthjem delivers inside Norway only.

Is there a free Shopify shipping app for Norway?

Posten Bring Checkout is free to install and use, but it's Bring-only. Shipmondo has a free plan where you ship on its rates. Packrooster's Starter plan is free on your own agreements, but pickup points at checkout start on the paid Standard plan. In every case you still pay the carrier for each parcel.

Do I need customs documents when shipping from Norway to Sweden or the EU?

Yes. Norway isn't in the EU customs union, so every parcel to Sweden, Finland, Denmark or another EU country is an export and needs a customs declaration. A shipping app that creates the documents when you print the label saves a lot of manual work. Our customs declaration guide explains what goes on the form.

Which Shopify plan do I need for pickup points at checkout?

Most pickup-point apps need Shopify's third-party carrier-calculated shipping, which is included on Advanced and Plus and available on Grow for an extra monthly fee or with annual billing. Bring's enhanced checkout with a pickup-point map needs Shopify Plus.
