What Is the Best Shopify Shipping App in Finland? (2026 Comparison)

What Is the Best Shopify Shipping App in Finland? (2026 Comparison)

Short answer: the best Shopify shipping app in Finland is one that supports Posti and Matkahuolto with live pickup points at checkout, prints their labels in bulk and fits the way you buy shipping. If you have your own carrier contracts, pick an app built around them (Packrooster, nShift). If you don't, an aggregator like Shipit sells you its rates per parcel.

TL;DR

  • Finnish shoppers expect to pick a parcel locker at checkout. Half of Finnish online orders went to a parcel locker in 2024, more than double the share in Sweden, Denmark or Norway (PostNord / Ipsos). An app that can't show Posti and Matkahuolto pickup points is the wrong app for a Finnish store.
  • Shopify's own label buying doesn't include Posti, Matkahuolto or any other Nordic carrier, so a Finnish store needs an app for labels too.
  • The apps split into three pricing models: your own carrier contracts plus app fees (Packrooster, nShift, Sendcloud's paid plans, Shipit with your own contracts), an aggregator's pre-negotiated rates paid per parcel (Shipit, Sendcloud Free) and a carrier's own single-carrier app (Posti Shipping).
  • "Free to install" doesn't mean free to run. Shipit with your own contracts, for example, charges a monthly fee per number of carriers plus a fee per label.
  • Most checkout features (app rates and pickup-point pickers) depend on your Shopify plan. Check that before you compare apps.

What a Shopify shipping app does for a Finnish store

A Shopify shipping app connects your store to carriers so customers can pick a delivery option at checkout and you can print the label when the order comes in. For a Finnish store, that usually means Posti and Matkahuolto first, then PostNord, GLS, Budbee and DHL Express or UPS for international parcels.

Shopify doesn't do this on its own in Finland. Its built-in label buying covers carriers like USPS, Royal Mail, Colissimo and DHL, but not Posti, Matkahuolto or any other Nordic carrier. Without an app, you're copying addresses into a carrier portal by hand.

At Finnish volumes, that gets painful fast. Finns received 69.3 million e-commerce parcels in 2025, up 13.8% on the year before, and parcels from domestic webshops grew fastest at 22.2% (Digital Commerce Finland's Paketti-indeksi, produced by HUI Research).

What to compare before you choose

Feature lists all look alike. These five things are what decide whether an app fits a Finnish store:

  1. Posti and Matkahuolto, both. Plenty of Finnish customers have a favourite and won't switch. Offering only one of the two costs you orders.
  2. Live pickup points at checkout. Not a fixed list you type in, but the actual nearest lockers and points from the carrier, updated when a point closes or a new locker opens. PostNord's research found 62% of Finnish online shoppers wanted their next order delivered to a parcel locker.
  3. How you pay for shipping. Do you use your own contracts with Posti and Matkahuolto, or buy shipping through the app's agreements? This decides most of your cost, not the app's monthly fee.
  4. Labels in bulk. Printing one label at a time is fine at 10 orders a day and painful at 100. Look for batch printing, printing by location and automatic printing when an order is paid.
  5. Customs documents. Shipping to Norway, Switzerland, the UK or the US means a customs declaration on every parcel. Inside the EU you don't need one, but most growing Finnish stores end up shipping to Norway sooner or later.

A few notes on reading this table. "Pickup points at checkout" means the customer picks a specific locker or point before paying. Some apps only let you choose the point afterwards in the admin, which isn't the same thing. And every app that adds options to checkout depends on your Shopify plan (more on that below).

What it costs at 300 labels a month

List prices are hard to compare because every app charges for different things. Here's one realistic case worked through our Shopify shipping app price comparison tool: a Finnish store with its own Posti and Matkahuolto contracts, 300 labels a month, pickup points at checkout, one warehouse and no scan-and-pack add-on. The carriers' own freight charges are left out, because they're the same whichever app you use.

App Estimated monthly cost One-off fees
Packrooster Shipping €67.94 None
Sendcloud €71.00 None
Shipit (own contracts) €104.90 (€49.90 carrier fee, €48.00 in label fees, €7.00 small-invoice fees) €150 onboarding

Packrooster and Sendcloud end up close at this volume. Shipit is the most expensive in this case, mainly because of its monthly carrier fee, and it's the only one of the three with an onboarding fee. The ranking shifts with your volume, number of carriers and add-ons, so put your own numbers into the price comparison tool. It uses each provider's public list prices from 25 August 2026 and a USD to EUR rate of 0.86.

The pricing models, explained

Monthly fees get compared most and matter least. What you pay the carrier per parcel is where the real money is, and that's set by the pricing model.

Your own carrier contracts

You sign an agreement with Posti, Matkahuolto or another carrier. The carrier invoices you directly at your agreed prices. The app connects to the carrier, puts their services and pickup points in your checkout and prints the labels, and you pay the app a monthly fee and sometimes a small per-label fee.

This is how Packrooster and nShift work, and it's what Sendcloud's paid plans and Shipit's own-contract option add. It suits stores that ship enough to negotiate, or that already have a contract and don't want to give it up. If you've never negotiated with a carrier, our guide to negotiating carrier rates covers how to start.

Aggregator rates, paid per parcel

The app company has its own agreements with carriers and resells shipping to you at its price list. There's no contract to sign and no monthly fee, which is why these apps are often described as "free". You still pay for every label; the app's margin sits in the parcel price.

Shipit works this way when you ship on its rates, and so does Sendcloud's Free plan. Note that Shipit's "free" applies only to this mode: if you bring your own contracts, Shipit charges a monthly carrier fee and a per-label fee, as the cost example above shows. Per-parcel pricing is a good start for a new store with low volume. As volume grows, compare the per-parcel prices against what a carrier would offer you directly, and watch for surcharges and extra fees on the invoice.

A carrier's own app

Posti Shipping is made by Posti and only ships with Posti. It's simple and costs nothing to install, but you'll need a second app the day you want Matkahuolto in your checkout, and running two shipping apps side by side gets messy.

Check your Shopify plan first

Apps that add their own rates or pickup-point pickers to checkout usually rely on Shopify's third-party carrier-calculated shipping. According to Shopify, it's included on Advanced and Plus. Grow stores can add it for a monthly fee or get it by switching to annual billing. Basic stores don't get it.

Shipit says this directly: its checkout pickup-point search needs Shopify Grow or higher. Before you compare apps, check what your plan allows. If you're on Basic, the cheapest fix is often moving to Grow on annual billing.

Which app fits which store

A small Finnish store just starting out, with no carrier contract. An aggregator gets you going fastest. Shipit is the obvious Finnish option. Plan to review it once you're sending a few hundred parcels a month.

A store that already has, or wants, its own Posti and Matkahuolto contracts. Pick an app built around your contracts. Packrooster is built in Finland for exactly this, and it also covers the carriers you'll need later (Bring, Helthjem and Instabox for Norway and Sweden), customs documents and multi-location fulfilment. Shipit and Sendcloud accept your own contracts too; the price comparison tool shows what each costs at your volume.

A store that sells to Norway, Sweden and the rest of the Nordics. You need Nordic carriers beyond Finland and customs documents for Norway, where every parcel needs a declaration and VOEC applies. Packrooster, nShift and Sendcloud are the realistic options; check each against your exact routes.

A larger business with an ERP, WMS or several sales channels. nShift is built for that, with a quoted price to match. Packrooster connects to WMS and ERP systems on its Premium plan and to nShift as well, which helps if part of your operation already runs on it.

A store that only ever uses Posti. Posti Shipping does the job. Just know that adding a second carrier later means changing apps.

How to do this in Shopify with Packrooster

Packrooster Shipping is made by Approosters in Joensuu, and it's what we know best, so here is how setup works with it. Packrooster doesn't sell shipping or show carrier prices. You connect your own carrier agreements, and the carrier bills you directly.

  1. Install Packrooster from the Shopify App Store and pick a plan. Pickup points at checkout are included from the Standard plan. Like the other checkout apps here, Packrooster's checkout rates and pickup points need carrier-calculated shipping on your Shopify plan.
  2. Connect your carriers. Add your Posti and Matkahuolto customer numbers and API details, plus any others you use. If you don't have your own contracts yet, Packrooster also connects to Shipit, so you can ship on Shipit's agreements through the same app.
  3. Set your checkout rates. Choose which services customers see and what you charge them: flat rates, free shipping over a basket value, or rules based on weight, product, zone or customer. Pickup points and service lists come live from the carrier.
  4. Print labels. Create labels one at a time, in bulk or automatically when an order is paid, sorted by Shopify location if you ship from several.
  5. Ship outside the EU. For Norway, the UK or the US, Packrooster generates the customs documents from the product data in your store when the label is created.

The Posti and Matkahuolto pages list the services supported for each carrier, and the shipping from Finland guide covers the rest of the setup: carriers, transit times and customs. More about the app on the Packrooster Shipping page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best shipping app for Shopify in Finland?

That depends on how you buy shipping. If you have, or want, your own contracts with Posti and Matkahuolto, Packrooster and nShift are built around them, and Packrooster has the wider Nordic carrier coverage for small and mid-sized stores. If you'd rather buy shipping per parcel without a contract, Shipit is the main Finnish option.

Does Shopify support Posti?

Not on its own. Shopify's built-in shipping labels don't include Posti or Matkahuolto. You need an app such as Packrooster, Shipit or Posti's own Posti Shipping app to show Posti pickup points at checkout and print Posti labels.

How do I add Posti and Matkahuolto pickup points to Shopify checkout?

Install a shipping app that supports both carriers' pickup points, connect your carrier accounts and enable pickup-point delivery as a shipping method. Check that your Shopify plan includes carrier-calculated shipping (Advanced, Plus, or Grow with the add-on or annual billing), as most pickup-point pickers depend on it.

Is Shipit Delivery Checkout free?

The Shipit app is free to install. If you ship on Shipit's own rates, there's no monthly fee and you pay for each shipment. If you use your own carrier contracts, Shipit charges a monthly fee based on how many carriers you connect (€9.90-€99.90), a fee of €0.14-€0.20 per label and €150 for onboarding. Either way, "free" refers to installing the app, not to shipping with it.

Do I need my own contract with Posti or Matkahuolto?

Not to get started. Aggregators like Shipit let you ship without one. Once you're sending a steady volume, it's worth asking both carriers for an offer and comparing it with what you're paying per parcel now.

Which Shopify plan do I need for pickup points at checkout?

Most pickup-point apps need Shopify's third-party carrier-calculated shipping, which is included on Advanced and Plus and available on Grow for an extra monthly fee or with annual billing. Basic stores usually can't show pickup-point pickers at checkout.
